Meaghan Gift enjoys helping people so much that she changed her career path to make it her full-time job. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.B.A. in Finance and Marketing. However, after working two years as a marketing coordinator in Baptist East Milestone Wellness Center's nutrition department, she decided to move forward with her passion for helping others. "I loved helping people improve their health with proper eating and exercise," Meaghan says, "but I wanted to take a more active role and reach even more individuals. I am a natural caregiver, so I chose to become a nurse and then a nurse practitioner."
Her compassion and genuine concern for her patients' health and well-being drives her to help them achieve the best possible outcomes. "It starts with building a strong relationship," Meaghan adds. "Working closely builds trust. It allows me to more fully understand patients' needs and devise the right care plan for them." The reason she chose to work with seniors? "I feel this is where the biggest need is and where I know I can really make a difference."
Meaghan entered the accelerated nursing program at Bellarmine University, where she earned a bachelor degree in just a few years. She continued her training at the University of Louisville, graduating with a master degree as a family nurse practitioner. During her studies, she was presented with the Dean's Award for Highest Scholarship Recipient and earned a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives.
Outside of work, Meaghan enjoys an active lifestyle, which includes many forms of exercise, such as playing tennis, softball and running. She also spends time reading, antiquing and learning to cook. She and her husband, Tommy, have a Dachshund-terrier named "Frankie" and enjoy vacationing with family each year in Pawley’s Island, SC.
