As she grew up, Dr. Quratulain Syed had many physician elders in her extended family. They routinely encouraged her to consider a career in medicine, and Dr. Syed is happy she took their advice.“I enjoy interacting with older adults while I help them with their medical problems,” Dr. Syed says. “Learning about their goals and values helps me develop a customized treatment plan. I also love their words of wisdom, which have helped me develop resilience.”
When she’s not providing high-quality care or performing medical research, Dr. Syed likes to play cricket with her nephews, read fiction, draw, paint, play her ukulele, walk outdoors, and travel. Her most memorable trip so far has been to southern Spain, including Granada and Cordoba.
