About Joseph Perez
Dr. Joseph "Joey" Perez, was inspired to pursue medicine by his uncle — a dedicated family doctor who cared for an inner-city Latino community. "Watching his deep connection with his patients — many of whom paid him in food or services — taught me early on that medicine is a calling rooted in human connection, trust, and service," he says. After a fulfilling 28-year active duty career spanning the Navy, Coast Guard, and Public Health Service, Dr. Perez turned his attention to where he felt his service was needed most — the senior population. "Seniors deserve healthcare that honors their lifetime of contributions with dignity, patience, and comprehensive care," he says. He was drawn to JenCare because its values of Love, Accountability, and Passion mirror the core values that guided his military career.
Dr. Perez builds relationships by seeing patients as individuals with a lifetime of stories — not just a collection of chronic conditions. He takes time to learn about their families, living environments, daily routines, and personal health goals. "When patients know they are heard, valued, and fiercely advocated for, they become empowered partners in their own well-being," he says. He brings a genuine love of untangling complex medical puzzles — always explaining things in clear, plain language so patients feel confident in their care plan.
When not with patients, Dr. Perez dedicates time to supporting his three adult children and cherishes time with his wife, a research physician. He also loves traveling, immersing himself in different cultures, and cooking — with Puerto Rican cuisine holding a very special place at the table.
